Kenplas Forum ==> Blow Molding (Machine) ==> Possiblity of using PP instead of PET on 'Nissei ASB' stretch blow molding machine (50MB or 70DPW)

Nissei ASB machine was developed to do the exact this. It was the original objective, beyond Axial Stretch Blow Molding.
Therefore; the answer is Yes. But: check the screw, if it will plasticize the resin. My it will need to color the product as it will not be transparent clear. No need to dry the resin.
Let me know the result.

although i never tried it yet, i think it can, if your machine has a conditioning station like asb machine. you have to use both heating pot and heating core and balance the temp.
let me know if this work, maybe it will useful later on.
and if anyone has the experience please share.

Danny Barilla

You possibly can but not without a lot of modifications.

PP as been blown successfully one step machines usually used for PET. Sidel and SIG Corpoplast (now KHS I think) as experience in the process.

The oven on a 2 step are usually inflexible and do not provide enough power without modification to run PP.

My boss has asked me to use PP (Polypropylene) to make bottles and small jars (850 ml) on our stretch blow molding machine instead of PET. The machines are manufactured by ASB Japan - Machine types are 50MB and other one is 70DPW.

I want to know if it is possible to make bottles/jars out of PP material. If any one has the knowledge, please guide.

Hamid Bilal.
